With more than 3,000 members, the Izzone is one of the rowdiest student sections in the nation. The Izzone provides Michigan State one of the great home-court advantages in college basketball, surrounding nearly the entire court.
"They've got the Izzone up there at the Breslin Center at Michigan State. It just blew my mind when they made me an honorary member. They've only got two of those so far - me and Steve Marriucci, Tom Izzo's best buddy. They lowered this giant banner from the top of the ceiling before the game. It was picture of a guy with a great body - and my head - wearing a jersey that read, "Dickie V, Isn't the Izzone Awesome, Baby?"
Student enthusiasm like that can give a team an edge. Basketball is all about that kind of emotion, passion and excitement. The bottom line is that the home-court advantage is much more of a factor in basketball than it is in football. It is just so unique."
